Updated resume and feature movie poster page

simple, but hey

November 9, 2008

added new animation clips

If you go to the animation page and scroll down you'll find "Alone Together", a short I never finished during the Pixar 3 class at the AAU in 2003.

You'll also find other clips like the "Tree Waiting" and "Fishing". I went through older backup files and found a lot of stuff I thought I had lost. All of these are also found @ spungella.

Site updates - Portfolio and Resume

Nothing fancy, just tweaked the site look a bit, updated the portfolio and resume. I found some older animation from the Pixar 3 class I took in 2003, so this and other work will go up on the personal animation page soon.

Spungella is up and running.

Trying to make the academyanimation.blogspot site more streamlined. So now you have:

No more Feature Animator demo reels

The hammer has come down. Until further notice anything related to my professional work will not be accessible by the general public. I've started to restrict access but by late tonight everything will be gone.

Too bad, but check back for further updates about that, it might only be temporary.

[UPDATE] Don't expect anything for a while...

Portfolio site updates

________________________________________

- I finally got around to updating my original site. So far I've tweaked the main navigation links and updated the portfolio blogs of my work at BEEP. BEEP still needs to be done (will take the longest), plus BEEP. Minor changes overall, it just takes time due to volume.

- New rigs have been added to Animation Buffet as well.

Animation Buffet is up...

... and running.

Check it out @ Animationbuffet.blogspot.com

Soon this blog here will serve as the main portal to jeandenis.net with all the links to swench, AAU, JDH, etc.
And one of these days my portfolio site will get a visual overhaul. One day...

For those who check this site...

If you are wondering about updates, I'm currently focusing my time on my Character Animation site, as well as Swench. I'm getting closer to finishing up a site I wanted to launch a long time ago.

Once time frees up I will go back to using this blog address for WIP (as it was intended from the get go), so once I work on my own clips again, I'll post the work-in-progress here and if anybody wants to rip it apart, feel free.

Unless I change my mind again and use this as my front page for news and updates regarding my different sites (which I'm leaning towards right now).

Ah... indecisive as usual...

Updates

I'm changing certain sites one by one, starting with the individual project sites,
like BEEP and BEEP. More to follow.
Let me know what you think and if there are malfunctioning areas.

Thanks!

Besides that, I'm back from vacation and it was great!

It goes from long to longer...

There are some new things coming up. I won't dare say soon, but hey.

You can catch nerdy news @ swench.com, that's up and running and my Academy Animation Class Add-on site is also up (which is a bit slow right now since I'm not teaching during summer, but in fall the posts will be frequent again).

Non animation related you can check out my "Research & Reviews" site. Whenever I buy something "bigger", I do extensive research on which product is the best one based on my needs, wishes and realistic financial options. Or if I need to find out how things work (for instance how to tweak blog templates), then I google the hell out of the web. But after all that research, I just leave it. Now, what if someone else has the same questions? So from now on I will post my research on that site, just in case someone might need it.

I'm going to build up "Rig Reviews" pretty soon. Basically this will be a spot for all the Maya rigs that are available right now, how well they perform and if they are recommended (not just from a technical point of view, but also portfolio wise - for instance Generi and Package Man are not really popular among recruiters anymore, so things like that will be mentioned as well). Like the title says, rig reviews. :-)

That site will work nicely (hopefully) with "Animation Buffet", which I'm not quite ready to launch yet. It's a massive undertaking and I'm totally overwhelmed by it. I still think it would be quite helpful to animators, it's just a lot of work. Stay tuned!

My portfolio site needs an upgrade, but I'm not in a hurry with that. Everything is up and running, it's just that a few pictures get randomly shuffled around, even though they shouldn't. It's annoyingly persistent...

Oh yeah, I also want to animate new clips at home. Phew! So many things I want to do... But hey, I'm really trying to be more organized and get stuff done here. :-)

Thanks for visiting and take care!

It's been so long...

Yep, tempus fugit. But a lot happened during that time. I won't say "Soon, a new clip will be up..." because it's just so hard to promise, there is always something coming up.
But soon a new clip will be up, really!

:)

More animation

Here is a new version in which the guy has most of the basic animation (some more, some less).
Next post will have the woman with all the animation ideas represented.

layout/blocking of first half

Here's the first half with (some) animation.

So far the hardest has been (and still is) the walk of the woman during the first shot. Hopefully by next week I should have a first animation pass for all the characters (for the first half of the sequence).

"Dual-Use"

"Dual-Use"

I have finally started a new clip! Yes, no more procrastinating.
Right now I am working on the shot composition and I'm sure this might change as I go through the first animation pass.

This clip is the whole sequence, so it's about 4MB big.

As usual any feedback is greatly appreciated!

"Not guilty!" V2

Thanks for all the comments!! Here's a new version with fixes. The body movement is now smoother, some eyeblinks have been fixed, eye direction when picture is up has been fixed and the lip sync has been tightened up.

V2, there you go. Keep the crits coming! Thanks again!

"Not guilty!"

Finally!

Here's my first pass. I'm going for a more quiet and subtle tone, so I don't really want any crazy arm or body movements when he is defending himself.

But after looking at it over and over, I'm again at a stage, where I think it sucks, nothing's moving, etc. etc. :)

So any help and feedback is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Astro Boys

I frankensteined "Hogan' and "Character B" into a new bastard child and once I decide on an idea for my new sound clip, I can test this weird rig.

Click here and here for more turntable movies.

My new clip won't be a sci-fi piece though, not yet. I got an idea for that one already, but it's more physical, right now I want to do another acting piece.

Although done and rendered, I always learn from people's comments and fresh eyes. What do you think works and doesn't?

Thanks!
